6.1.5 Separation of initial (establishment) phase and dendroremediation phase

Initial (establishment) phase

Before dendroremediation, which requires the development of the trees and  the permeation of the soil by the tree roots, there is obviously an initial period, mainly characterized by a high initial leaching velocity of TNT and ADNT. Structural changes during soil excavation, soil transport and soil homogenization may be main reasons for these effects.

Dendroremediation phase

When the growth of trees is established stepwise, after 4-5 months the real dendroremediation begins and leaching of nitroaromatics gradually decreases.
